Do I need a manager?
You only need a manager if you have something to sell. It can be your talent as a writer, a director, or a producer. Or it can be a concept or project to be packaged.
The difference between managers and agents is that mangers creatively shape careers and agents sell services. A manager is your partner. An agent is your booker.
A manager's time is measured in building value. An agent's time is measured in how many commissions he/she can book in a day, a month, a year. It wasn't always this clear cut, but the pressure on agents today to produce results is enormous. They don't have time to build careers.
